Beloved Korean Actress Kim Soo-mi Passes Away at 75, Leaving a Legacy of Charismatic Performances

Tragic news has struck the Korean entertainment industry with the passing of beloved actress Kim Soo-mi at the age of 75.

Kim was discovered unconscious at her home and was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. Known for her warm and approachable demeanor, she garnered a loyal following through her extensive career in television, film, and theater. First emerging as a talented actress in 1971, Kim gained widespread recognition for her role in the MBC drama "Jeonwon Ilgi" and had received numerous accolades, including an MBC Acting Award in 1986.

Her most recent appearances included the film "Gamooneui Yeonggwang: Returns" and the play "Chinjeong Eomma." However, she had to temporarily halt her activities earlier this year due to health issues resulting from exhaustion. Despite her advanced age, Kim's health concerns raised alarm among her supporters, especially when she underwent hospitalization.

During her recovery, Kim made appearances in home shopping broadcasts, where her slower speech sparked further concern. In a last phone interview with OSEN, she reassured fans by stating, "I'm fine. No problems," attributing her speech difficulties to dental implants. This conversation became a touching reminder of her determination as she expressed gratitude for the concern and vowed to stay strong.

Kim's funeral services are set to take place at the Hanyang University Hospital funeral hall, with the burial scheduled for the morning of September 27 at the Seoul Memorial Park.
