Celebrity chef Baek Jong-won is embarking on an extraordinary journey to Antarctica.
The new program, "Chef in Antarctica," co-produced by LG Uplus's STUDIO X+U and MBC, showcases Baek and his team as they prepare warm meals for members of the winter research crew facing harsh conditions. On the 16th, the show's participants, including actress Im Soo-hyang, idol Suho from EXO, and actor Chae Jong-hyeop, set off to the frozen continent. Prior to their departure, viewers were captivated by footage of the foursome undergoing various polar training sessions, including safety drills and education on Antarctica's special protection zones.
Photos released on the 16th reveal the team members brimming with excitement, but also displaying a hint of anxiety about the daunting natural environment awaiting them in Antarctica. Although they have completed all preparations, questions arise about how Baek and his colleagues will manage to create meals with limited ingredients stored in the base's supply warehouse. Fans are eager to see the unique dishes that will emerge from this extreme culinary adventure.
The innovative reality program, blending the expertise of STUDIO X+U and MBC, featuring Baek Jong-won, Im Soo-hyang, Suho, and Chae Jong-hyeop, is set to debut in April 2025.
