Comedian Kim Jong-seok, famously known as 'Ttukbakki Dad,' has revealed that he is struggling with debts amounting to 10 billion won (approximately $7.5 million).
During his appearance on MBN's 'Exclusive World' on September 12, he candidly shared that he feels his financial situation could lead to disaster in just a year. Kim explained that selling his home in Gangnam and living separately from his family were necessary steps due to his debts. The comedian attributed his financial troubles to failed business ventures aimed at introducing Korean K-pop, K-movies, K-coffee, and K-breads to the U.S. market.
He disclosed that he incurred 2.2 billion won in debt while pursuing these ambitions, which have since spiraled out of control. Kim expressed feelings of guilt and anguish over the burden his family bears as a result of his financial hardships. Currently, he has stepped back from his U.S. business endeavors and is running three large cafes in Gyeonggi Province, facing monthly interest payments of around 60 million won.
Despite the turmoil, Kim conveyed his deep remorse towards his family, who have been supportive through his challenges. His wife reassured him that their children love him and appreciate the hard work he has put in, emphasizing gratitude for his resilience despite setbacks. This heartfelt support highlights the personal struggles that many families face amid financial difficulties.
