What Secrets Did Yoo Yeon-seok Hear About Chae Soo-bin in 'The Call'?
On the 3rd, MBC's Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Call’ (지금 거신 전화는) aired a teaser that left viewers curious about what Yoo Yeon-seok might have heard regarding Chae Soo-bin.
In the recent episode, Shim Gyu-jin (played by Choo Sang-mi) was under police investigation, having been arrested for the murder of Baek Jang-ho (played by Jung Dong-hwan), Baek Sa-eon’s grandfather. She was accused of suffocating him to death. Baek Sa-eon confronted her, saying, “Now confess everything. Where is Hee-joo and what happened? Confess before the evidence comes out.” It turned out that Shim Gyu-jin had attempted to eliminate Hong Hee-joo through Min Do-gi (played by Hong Seo-jun).
However, Baek Sa-eon was not convinced. He replied, “No, she must have saved her for me. She must be looking for a way to torment me more.” As predicted, it was Shim Gyu-jin who had kidnapped Hong Hee-joo, but she did not kill her. Baek Sa-eon managed to find out where Hong Hee-joo was through the police.
Meanwhile, Min Do-gi had been sent by Shim Gyu-jin to kill Hong Hee-joo. Baek Sa-eon urgently cried out, “Please, Hee-joo!” and pressed on the accelerator. However, Min Do-gi did not end up killing Hong Hee-joo; instead, he told her, “Hurry and escape,” and freed her. As she ran towards Baek Sa-eon, Hong Hee-joo expressed, “I’m not afraid of dying, but I’m afraid I won’t see you again.”
Just then, the kidnapper locked the door so that no one could come out again. Coincidentally, Baek Sa-eon's father, Baek Eui-yong (played by Yoo Seong-joo), discovered the situation and tried to catch his son with his own hands. Yet, the kidnapper shot his own father. As of the end of the broadcast, it was unclear whether Baek Sa-eon was the one who had been shot.
In the final scenes, Hong Hee-joo was seen reminiscing about past memories with Baek Sa-eon. She was dialing his number over and over, lamenting, “Only now do I regret everything after he’s gone.” The voice message simply stated, “The number you are trying to call does not exist.” As she spoke to herself, she asked, “What did Baek Sa-eon hear back then? What made him look at me with such sad eyes?”
