Rosé from BLACKPINK Begins New Chapter as Solo Artist with Producer Teddy
According to Korean media reports, Rosé, a member of the group BLACKPINK, will be starting a new chapter as a solo artist alongside producer Teddy.
On June 17th, it was reported that Rosé is expected to join The Black Label, led by Teddy. The Black Label is an entertainment company established in 2016 by Teddy, a former member of the YG Entertainment group 1TYM. The label is home to artists such as BIGBANG's Taeyang, solo singers Jeon Somi and Zion.T, and actors Park Bo-gum and Lee Jong-won.
Rosé and Teddy have been musical colleagues for nearly a decade, continuing their collaboration since their time at YG Entertainment. Teddy has been instrumental in producing many of BLACKPINK's hit songs, including their debut singles "Whistle" and "Boombayah" released in 2016, significantly contributing to their global popularity.
In the 2020 Netflix documentary "BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky," Rosé and the other BLACKPINK members described Teddy as a producer who listens to their stories, captures new directions, and always guides them positively. They referred to him as the "fifth member of BLACKPINK" in their hearts.
Last year, Rosé successfully conducted the largest world tour by a K-pop girl group, "BORN PINK," with her BLACKPINK members, attracting around 1.8 million fans. Additionally, they performed at the Coachella Festival in the U.S. (250,000 attendees over two days) and at Hyde Park in the UK (65,000 attendees), engaging with a combined total of approximately 2,115,000 fans.
Since the end of last year, BLACKPINK has adopted a strategy of conducting group activities with YG Entertainment while handling solo activities independently. This agreement allows them to continue their group activities with YG while pursuing solo endeavors separately.
With this, all BLACKPINK members have established their own platforms for solo activities. Before Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo each set up their independent labels for solo projects.
Jennie announced the establishment of her independent label, ODD ATELIER (OA), in December of last year. Lisa has been continuing her solo activities through her label, LLOUD, since February. Jisoo officially established her label BLISSOO in February with the support of her older brother.
