Former national fencing athlete Kim Jun-ho recently revealed that he is discouraging his son Eun-woo from pursuing fencing.
On the October 26 episode of KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung-soo's Radio Show," Kim Jun-ho shared his experiences as a commentator for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, where he notably utilized AI robots for analysis. He expressed that while he prepared extensively for his debut as a commentator, he felt pressure regarding the "AI robot commentary" aspect, fearing potential inaccuracies. Fortunately, he acknowledged that the referees performed well according to his expectations, alleviating his concerns.
Currently appearing on KBS2's "The Return of Superman" as Eun-woo's dad, Kim Jun-ho humorously compared his and his son’s popularity, noting Eun-woo's substantial social media following. Regarding Eun-woo's earnings from appearances, the couple initially agreed to split the income evenly, but Kim suggested a 70/30 split given his larger role. This bargaining led to a humorous acknowledgment from his wife that without Eun-woo, Kim wouldn’t have the opportunity.
Married at the age of 25, Kim explained that he had carefully planned his marriage, culminating in a goal he had set for himself. He recalled gifting his wife a car as a token of gratitude for her support during his athletic career, especially since she is five years older and had contributed significantly to their life together. His desire to ensure safety after the birth of their second child was also a motivating factor behind this gift.
When asked whether he would allow his children to pursue fencing, Kim stated that while he wants them to engage in sports, he would prefer to steer them away from fencing due to the injuries he endured. However, he also noted that Eun-woo has been practicing fencing movements at home, which has made him reconsider his stance. This lighthearted revelation led to laughter as the host playfully suggested that they shouldn’t discourage him, hinting at Eun-woo’s potential future success.
