Former Fencing Champion Kim Jun-ho Reveals He Discourages Son Eun-woo from Taking Up the Sport on KBS2's Superman is Back

In a surprising revelation, former national fencing champion Kim Jun-ho confessed that he's discouraging his son, Eun-woo, from pursuing the sport. During an episode of KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung-soo's Radio Show," Kim shared his experiences as a fencing commentator at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kim Jun-ho discussed how he prepared extensively for his first stint as a commentator, crediting the success of the athletes for his confidence on air. He noted the significant influence of referees in fencing, emphasizing the importance of understanding their styles and tendencies. Despite feeling some pressure being dubbed the "AI Robot Commentator," he expressed gratitude for the referees' cooperation during the event.

Currently featured on KBS2's "The Return of Superman," Kim reflected on his and Eun-woo's growing popularity, joking that he might need to manage his son's burgeoning fanbase. Regarding Eun-woo's participation fees on the show, Kim and his wife initially settled on a 50-50 split, but after some negotiation, they adjusted it to a 70-30 split in Kim's favor, leading to a final agreement of 100% for Eun-woo due to the latter's appeal.

Married at 25, Kim revealed to Park Myung-soo that he had a long-term plan for his marriage and honored his wife's sacrifices during his athletic career, even gifting her a car for safety reasons after their second child was born. When asked if he would support his children in pursuing fencing, Kim expressed reluctance, citing his own injuries and the physical toll the sport takes, despite Eun-woo showing interest in fencing moves at home.

This light-hearted conversation took a humorous turn when Park jokingly encouraged Kim not to deter Eun-woo, exclaiming that gold medals are already on the horizon.
