In a surprising revelation, veteran actor Kim Yong-gun admitted that he had his son, Ha Jung-woo, while his partner was still pregnant before marriage.
During the September 12 episode of Channel A's "Dad is a Flowering Middle-Aged Man," Kim accompanied Shin Sung-woo to an eye surgery appointment for his presbyopia. Shin shared his struggles with deteriorating vision, stating, "My quality of life has been severely impacted, especially when tending to my children." He expressed the difficulties he faced, particularly when trying to trim their nails and needing to call his wife for assistance.
On the way back to Seoul post-surgery, Kim Yong-gun reminisced about his honeymoon trip to Dogo Hot Springs, where he was around 7-8 months into his partner's pregnancy. He remarked, “At that time, Dogo Hot Springs was quite popular, and we stayed for three nights and four days.” In the studio, he further revealed that he wasn’t showing much due to wearing a wedding dress, even though his pregnancy was evident.
Shin Hyun-joon expressed surprise at the rarity of premarital pregnancies during that time, to which Kim Won-jun added, "That must have been a bold choice!" Kim Yong-gun, born in 1946, married in 1977 and has two sons, including Ha Jung-woo, but divorced in 1996.
