Kwak Jun-bin Issues Public Apology After Meeting BTS Jin

‘Gwag Jun-bin’s World Truck Diner 3’ Airs Apology from Host Gwag Jun-bin

On the April 4th broadcast of EBS's ‘Gwag Jun-bin’s World Truck Diner 3’, host Gwag Jun-bin experienced life as a truck driver in the gourmet nation of France.

During the episode, Gwag Jun-bin took a tour of downtown Toulouse. A taxi driver humorously commented to him, “You seem to be from Switzerland,” showcasing a non-prejudiced view and eliciting laughter.

As Gwag Jun-bin observed a restaurant that was closed due to the country's 35-hour workweek regulation, he mused, “If it were me, I would be open at this time, but I guess it’s illegal. Yet, is there no legal issue for the jambon-beurre (ham and butter sandwich) shop?” This serious contemplation had viewers chuckling.

After visiting the historically significant La Cité de Carcassonne, Gwag Jun-bin expressed his emotions, stating, “Beautiful landscapes cannot be captured on camera.” While admiring medieval helmet props, he lamented, “This is from ‘Maple Story’. I want to buy it, but they don’t have my size.”

During his truck-driving experience, Gwag met a Turkish driver who could speak Korean, Japanese, and Russian. The driver unexpectedly asked, “Are you a communist?” catching Gwag off guard.

Gwag Jun-bin gifted traditional Korean sweets, yakgwa (약과), to the driver’s daughters, who are fans of K-pop. He proudly shared a photo with Jin from BTS, mentioning, “I’m friends with Jin. We’re the same age.”

“When I asked Jin if I could say we’re friends overseas, he replied that I should say we’re ‘acquaintances’. I apologize! At least I’ve met Seok-jin (Jin) twice,” he added in a humorous apology to the public.

The truck driver experience began early in the morning, and Gwag Jun-bin reminisced as he observed the unloading process. The driver mentioned he works 200 hours a month and earns about 3,500 euros (approximately 5,200,000 KRW).

Impressed by the driver’s story of being inspired to settle in France after military service, Gwag shared, “I’ve been poor since I was young, and I have no degree or skills, so I wanted to live in another country. It feels like the driver is living my dream.”

After taking a shower at the truck diner and enjoying a course meal, Gwag remarked, “It’s charming and romantic. Korean truck drivers eat quickly. They pile food on one plate and go to bed early.”

Although he initially planned to sleep in the truck, he reconsidered due to the cramped space, not wanting to inconvenience the driver. This prompted the production team to joke, “The diner opens at 4:30 AM, so you need to wake up by 4 AM,” leaving him in despair and eliciting laughter from the audience.
