Lee Seung-gi Embraces Fatherhood in Upcoming Film 'Big Family'

Lee Seung-gi reveals how marriage has deepened his relationships with his parents and led him to fatherhood in his latest film.

At the press screening for 'Big Family' held at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, director Yang Woo-seok and the film's stars, including Kim Yun-seok and Park Soo-young, were in attendance. Lee plays Ham Moon-seok, a son who becomes a monk, severing ties with his father, who runs a famous dumpling restaurant. The plot thickens when a shocking revelation disrupts his father's life, showcasing the comedic yet touching dynamics of family relationships.

Lee reflected on his experience working alongside Kim Yun-seok, stating, "This film was both a filming set and a learning environment for me. I’ve always been a fan of Kim Yun-seok and it was an honor to act alongside someone considered one of the best actors in South Korea." He also shared anecdotes about bonding with cast members over drinks after filming, noting how such gatherings enriched his acting and understanding of their craft.

In discussing father-son relationships, Lee admitted, "I think many father-son dynamics lack warmth and meaningful conversation. As I age and become a parent myself, I’ve found a deeper connection and understanding with my own parents." With 'Big Family' set to release on December 11, audiences can look forward to a heartfelt exploration of family bonds.

The film, directed by Yang Woo-seok, features a storyline where an unexpected visit from adorable grandchildren transforms the lives of a dumpling shop owner (played by Kim Yun-seok) and his son (Lee Seung-gi), who has chosen a monastic life. This project marks Yang’s return to directing after his successful hit 'The Attorney'. 'Big Family' promises to offer a unique blend of comedy and drama, perfect for fans of Korean cinema.
