NCT's Taeyil Faces Sexual Assault Charges and Exits Group Amidst Controversy

The K-pop community is in shock as Taeyil, a member of the group NCT, has been handed over to the prosecution on charges of sexual misconduct.

On October 13, the Seoul Bangbae Police confirmed that Taeyil was transferred to the prosecutor's office the day before. The police began an investigation after receiving a report from a victim in June and summoned Taeyil for questioning on August 28. Following these developments, SM Entertainment announced the immediate removal of Taeyil from the group after discussions, leading to his official departure.

SM Entertainment acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, "We have confirmed that Taeyil has been accused in a criminal case related to sexual misconduct. Understanding the seriousness of this matter, we deemed it inappropriate for him to continue with group activities, leading to his decision to leave." Fans expressed their disappointment, noting that Taeyil attended an NCT 127 fan meeting celebrating the group's 8th anniversary and later refrained from issuing any apology or statement regarding the allegations.

This unexpected turn of events involving the eldest member of NCT has left fans bewildered, with some even speculating about possible drug use. However, police officials clarified that there was no evidence of drug use at the time of the alleged incidents. Taeyil debuted with NCT in 2016 and was part of both NCT 127 and NCT U, marking significant achievements in the K-pop industry.
