Star chef Choi Kang-rok is set to return to television by appearing on the popular cooking show "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator."
JTBC confirmed that chef Choi has finalized his participation in the program ahead of its premiere in December. Known for winning the second season of the Olive cooking competition "MasterChef Korea" in 2013, Choi gained significant attention after appearing on Netflix’s cooking competition "The Black and White Chef." His unique expressions, often referred to as "Human Kang-rok style," alongside his exceptional cooking skills, have garnered him a dedicated fanbase.
Despite his popularity, Choi limited his media appearances following his exit from "The Black and White Chef," even hinting at a year-long social media hiatus post-elimination. Recently, a publisher of his cookbook expressed a desire for a fan event, hoping to connect with him despite not hearing from him for weeks. This long-awaited news of his appearance on "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" has piqued the interest of fans eager to learn more about his current activities.
Meanwhile, "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," which aired from 2014 to 2019, significantly influenced the rise of cooking shows in South Korea. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, it promises to bring back original producers Lee Chang-woo and Kang Yoon-jung, raising expectations for its comeback. Additionally, chef Edward Lee, a fan favorite from "The Black and White Chef," is also confirmed to join the show, further heightening anticipation for the return of this beloved cooking series.
