In a recent episode of SBS's "Decision to Inherit," a contestant resembling K-Pop star G-Dragon caught viewers' attention with his long hair.
On September 16, the show featured a search for the successor of a traditional Chinese restaurant in Daegu with a 50-year legacy. The restaurant owner was determined to find someone to carry on the legacy and planned to open a second location after a three-year training period. Out of 116 applicants, only seven made it through to meet the owner after an evaluation process by the production team.
Before their individual meetings with the owner, the contestants had a chance to taste the restaurant's signature dish, ‘nanjawat’ (a type of steamed bun). Among them, one applicant's G-Dragon-like looks drew comments from others, who playfully noted the resemblance, though he humbly dismissed the comparison. Confident in his culinary skills, he stated, “I’m sure I will win, no one can outperform me from my generation.”
However, the restaurant owner expressed concern about the chef's long hair, suggesting he expected the applicants to have a more professional appearance. He noted that hygiene is crucial in the restaurant business and considered the long hair a drawback. This sparked discussions about appearance and professionalism within the culinary field, emphasizing the importance of first impressions in such competitive environments.
