According to Korean media, the group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) continues to make strides on the global stage with a massive stadium tour, their appointment as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors, and a performance at the UK's Glastonbury Festival.

In the first half of the year, SEVENTEEN not only connected with fans through their albums and concerts but also represented young people worldwide in the international community. As they mark their 10th anniversary, they continue to receive praise for their relentless pursuit of new challenges and expanding their horizons.

Dream Stage Inception: Stadium Tour Attracts 380,000 Fans

From March to May, SEVENTEEN held their 'SEVENTEEN TOUR 'FOLLOW' AGAIN' across four major stadiums in South Korea and Japan, drawing a total of 380,000 fans.

They performed at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, Seoul World Cup Stadium, Osaka's Yanmar Stadium Nagai, and Kanagawa's Nissan Stadium.

Notably, Kanagawa's Nissan Stadium, with a capacity of over 70,000, is considered a 'dream stage' for many artists. SEVENTEEN became the second K-pop group to hold a solo concert at this prestigious venue, leaving a significant mark in K-pop history. The tickets for their Japan concerts were sold through a lottery system, with over 2.8 million applications, showcasing SEVENTEEN's immense ticket power.

Dominating the Music Market

SEVENTEEN's influence in the music market was equally impressive. Their best album '17 IS RIGHT HERE', released on April 29, achieved a rare triple million-seller status and ranked second on Billboard Japan's '2024 First Half Chart' (tracking period from November 27, 2023, to May 26, 2024), the highest ranking for a K-pop artist this year. The new special unit Jeonghan & Wonwoo released their first single 'THIS MAN' on June 17, setting the record for the highest first-week sales among K-pop unit groups.

SEVENTEEN Makes History in Europe

In June, SEVENTEEN added new milestones to K-pop history. They became the first K-pop artists to be appointed UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors. The members attended the appointment ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 26, announcing plans to donate $1 million to launch the Global Youth Grant Scheme in collaboration with UNESCO. This marks the first time UNESCO has appointed goodwill ambassadors specifically for youth, making it even more significant.

Another historic achievement was made in Somerset, England. SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop artists to perform on the main stage at the Glastonbury Festival. Their one-hour performance, featuring songs like 'MAESTRO', 'Clap', 'HOT', 'God of Music', and 'VERY NICE', received rave reviews from local media, with NME stating, "SEVENTEEN made history," and the Evening Standard calling it "an unforgettable spectacle."

Future Endeavors

SEVENTEEN will continue their activities in the second half of the year. They are scheduled to appear on Japan's Fuji TV 'FNS Music Festival' on the 3rd. In September, they will headline 'Lollapalooza Berlin' at Berlin's Olympiastadion. New album releases and tours are also in the pipeline.
