tvN's Highly Anticipated Medical Drama Slated for Indefinite Delay Amid Ongoing Doctor Strikes

Fans of K-drama may be disheartened to learn that the anticipated series "슬기로울 전공의 생활" (Smart Resident Life) is facing an indefinite delay.

Originally scheduled for broadcast in the second half of the year as a follow-up to "슬기로운 의사생활" (Hospital Playlist), this medical drama chronicles the real-life experiences of medical residents and their friendships in a university hospital setting. The show boasts an impressive cast, including actors Go Yoon-jung, Shin Chae-kyung, Han Ye-ji, Kang Yoo-seok, and Jung Jun-won. Unfortunately, due to recent strikes among doctors opposing medical school expansions, public sentiment has soured regarding portrayals of medical professionals.

As a response to the growing backlash, tvN postponed "슬전생" to the latter half of the year, leading to the airing of "졸업" (Graduation) instead. Additionally, when the successor of "졸업" was announced to be "감사합니다" (Thank You) rather than "슬전생," it became clear that the show's release had been pushed back yet again. With a long-term strike continuing and more dramas lined up, it now appears unlikely that "슬전생" will air this year.

In May, tvN confirmed that the scheduling for "슬전생" was still undecided, further casting doubt on the show's future. As concerns mount over the indefinite postponement of the series, fans are left wondering if they will ever get to see this highly anticipated K-drama come to life.
