Tragedy Strikes as Jeju Air Flight Crashes: National Mourning Period Declared
As the Korean government has declared a national mourning period following the tragic accident involving a Jeju Air flight, numerous entertainment programs have announced their cancellations.
According to the program schedule for the 4th, popular shows such as JTBC’s Knowing Bros (아는 형님), MBC’s Hangout with Yoo (놀면 뭐하니?), KBS 2TV’s The Nation's Singer in Germany (나라는 가수 인 독일), and tvN’s Amazing Saturday (놀라운 토요일), along with KBS2’s Immortal Songs (불후의 명곡) will not air. Meanwhile, KBS 2TV’s Salim Families (살림하는 남자들), MBC’s What’s the Cause? (전지적 참견 시점), JTBC’s drama Lady Oksun (옥씨부인전), MBC’s drama Currently Connected (지금 거신 전화는), SBS’s My Perfect Secretary (나의 완벽한 비서), and tvN’s drama Ask the Stars (별들에게 물어봐) will continue their regular broadcasts.
This gesture reflects the government's intention to join in the mourning process, which has been designated from the day of the crash to the 4th.
On the morning of the 29th of last month, at approximately 9:03 AM, Jeju Air flight 7C2216, traveling from Bangkok, Thailand, tragically crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province. Out of the 181 passengers on board, 179 lost their lives, while 2 were rescued. The government has officially proclaimed a national mourning period until midnight on the 4th and will be setting up joint memorial altars at the site of the crash in Muan Airport and in 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
